Recently Staff Writer Liane Boomhauer had a chance to sit down with Kamia Crystal of Twinklez. This is what she had to say.

Hi there Kamia! Glad we were able to set this interview up.

1. What brought you to Second Life?

I was brought by a friend to Second Life in December 2006.

2. Are you glad you stuck through and stayed?

Yes, I’ve had my share of SL drama, fun, ups and downs but in the end it’s all been worth it.

3. Tell us a little bit about Kamia Crystal.

Well Kamia is 6 years old, very quiet but very silly.  You won’t catch her around many places – as she usually stays on the sim and is always trying to make something new.  Normally she is found with Skylia Cortes (Owner of ForeverYoung) or her close friends.

4. Where are some of your favorite places to hang out, that you frequent alot?

Delicious (Our sim lol).  So many things to do here and I love meeting the new people that come through here.

5. Was creating a main goal for you here in Second Life?

I’ve tried just about everything in Second Life – building, photography, managing, land sales, modeling – ultimately this is the only one that I have succeeded in thanks to the help of ForeverYoung Designer Skylia Cortes.

6. Where does your creativity come from?

Real Life outfits, things I would like to see kids wearing.  Basically anything that comes to mind – I always have my close friends to share their ideas too!

7. Do you do any type of designing in RL?

Nope, none what so ever!!

8. Before designing children’s clothing, did you make anything else?

Photography on and off – and had made a few furniture items previously.

9. Where did you come up with the name Twinklez?

Google. LOL I was searching for a unique word and had come across something about a twinkling star – and then decided to mix it up a little bit and make it Twinklez.

10.  What’s your favorite outfit for little girls this season?

I made this fall dress – that actually I made by mistake.  It wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to turn out but it ended up being super cute!!!

11. Is it easy for you to come up with new ideas?

It’s hard in the kid world to come up with new ideas as there are so many kid designers and not many different things you can do with kids clothing as you are limited.  Mostly you start to see other stores with the same items – so you really have to be the first to try to come out with something that stands above the rest.

12. Do you find it hard getting your name out there as a fashion designer?

To be honest, I never really thought about that.  I really started making clothes that my kids on my adult avatar would like – as I mentioned earlier with the help of Skylia I started to get into it more.  I really only do this for the enjoyment of it. As it stands today, it is becoming successful.

13. Do you feel kids designers get the short end of the stick when it comes to being appreciated?

Yes, I really do.  I only think this because I think kid avatars as a whole get the short end of the stick – it is frowned upon by many for playing a child avatar so I do feel it takes a lot more work to prove to others that it still does take talent and the same business practices that adult designers have.

14. Lastly, Where do you see Twinklez going in next year?

Well, hopefully in a year I’m still designing.  And if I am, I hope it’s all the same as now!  I’m having a great time!!
