Roses…And What They Mean
Think back to my article on first dates in the virtual world of Second Life. Remember when I said flowers had meanings that you have got to understand if you’re going to be buying them for your girl? Well it has been some time since then, and I realized I had yet to give you the breakdown.
We will start with the most common flowers given in a romantic setting today, the rose. Roses are a beautiful flower, but the color of the rose means a lot to the person receiving it. There are many many colors of roses, and each one has its own meaning.
Red- Red is the color of love. Give this flower when you want to say “I love you”.
Deep Pink- Deep Pink roses are the thank you rose. This is a rose you give when someone does something nice for you, or you want to thank them for a wonderful evening.
Regular Pink- Regular pink is the happy pink. This is a flower you give a loved one to tell them how happy you are with the relationship.
Light Pink- Light pink roses are the sympathy rose. This is a rose you stay away from in a relationship, unless your partner has recently lost someone they care for.
White Roses- white is the color of innocence. This rose works best combined with red, and in that mix is the symbol of unity. The white and red bouquet says “may we always be together as one”
Yellow- Yellow roses are the symbol of friendship and caring. This is the rose you can give a friend, or send to a significant other to say “I care about you”
Lavender- The lavender rose symbolizes falling in love. This is a rose you send when you want to say, “I’m falling for you, and you enchant me”
Orange- Orange roses symbolize desire. The orange says to your partner “I want you, I NEED you”
Black- Thanks to Hollywood, the black rose is the rose of death. You do not send this rose (if you can even find it) that’s a sure fire way to say “our love is dead”.
Blue- The blue rose is even rarer than the dreaded black. The blue says mystery or attaining the impossible. This says “Baby you are one in a million”
This was a simple breakdown of the traditional meaning of the flower. Remember when you visit the second life florists, that roses mean different things to various people. It is best to combine what I have taught you here with what you have learned about your partner. Remember if it is your first date, a small trinket that says I’m thinking of you may be best.
