A Word About First Dates

0

When establishing a new relationship in second life or the real world, the first date is your make or break date.  The first date is much harder to pull off in Second Life because the standard dinner and movie go out for coffee date isn’t available in our virtual world.  When you plan your first date, you have to strike a balance between romantic, and overwhelmingly romantic.  How do you find this balance you ask?  Well the key to the perfect first date is knowing your partner.  If you were dating a vegetarian you wouldn’t take her to a steak house would you?
So what makes a perfect first date in second life?  First of all it’s your choice of venue.  There are many places on the grid that cater to romantic getaways.  What you should do when planning your first date is set aside a little time to go out and visit a few of them to see if they fit the theme you are going for.   A few things to remember though, you want to find something that isn’t going to overwhelm your date, I know it sounds strange, but there is  such a thing as being  too romantic.  Once you have picked the perfect time and place the next step is to find a small gift that says I am thinking of you.  You will know generally what the gift is if you know your date.  If you are going to go with flowers, be sure that she a). likes first date flowers, and b). you know the meaning of the flower you are buying.  You don’t want to get her a bouquet that says to her “I’m sorry for your loss”.
What makes a first date go bad? There are a few things that make the first date a failure.  The first of those things is being a no show. If you say you will take someone out dancing at noon SLT on Saturday, and you show up at 1230 SLT it’s not putting your best foot forward.  Talking about you is another great way to avoid a second date.  You want to put your focus on your date, and let him or her ask the questions that they want to know the answers to about you. Talk about your ex on date number one and you may be sorry, so stay away from that
.
These were just a few basic first date pointers.  In future issues we will be bringing you places to go on your first date or any date, and some articles about romantic gift giving.  We here at AvatarWeekly would love to hear your first date stories so please send them to me at either sarrafoggarty@yahoo.com, or avatarweekly@gmail.com attn.
