Think back to the times that you were getting intimate with a special someone in Second Life.  The moment is right, the lag is reasonable, your poses are lined up just so, and then they say something that just kills it.  Recently I conducted a survey to find the top 10 mood killers in second life.

#1. We have all been here, and it is the biggest deal breaker.  When your cyber partner says “Brb mom/husband/wife is calling” or just plain “BRB” Talk about ruining the moment.

#2. Freenis.  Yes we all know by now what a Freenis is. It is the giant poorly textured, unscripted attachment that men pick up on day one so they can feel whole.  Guys there is no bigger turn off to a woman than attachment that sticks a foot out of her back.  Take some time to buy a quality piece. Midnight Lotus is my personal favorite.

#3 Text speak. When you are getting hot and heavy, take the time to spell out “you are so hot” no one wants to read “u R so hot lol”.  You are not on your cell phone, there is no character limits or charge per letter, show a little intelligence and spell.

#4.  Gestures.  Gestures are pretty much a no no at any time, especially the ones with the baby talk voices or this dj rocks filling up the screen, keep the weirdness in the club and out of the bedroom.

#5. Don’t rely on scripted attachments and pose balls to do the sex talk, it will ruin the moment if your imagination is not engaged.

#6. Poorly constructed emotes. Sex in SL is a mental activity. It requires details and imagination to be truly enjoyable.  If you set the scene one line at a time aka “I grab your hand” and then wait for a reply, you need to practice practice practice. A good emote should give the partner a good mental image of what’s happening.  “… takes your hand in hers, guiding you over to the couch, pulling you down next to her, cupping your face in her palm”  is a much better way to set a scene.

#7. FREENIS. I can’t stress it enough.

#8. Going away. It’s understandable you may have an internet connection issue or linden lags are messing with you again, but if your partner looks up at you hovering over in away mode, it’s going to make them  feel like you just don’t care.

#9. No back and forth.  If you write out the entire scene, both parts and your response, and the partner doesn’t really get to play, you might as well play alone if they are just there to visually stimulate you. A partner is more than a prop in your fantasy, don’t forget it.

#10 Side Chats and real life distractions.  When it is time to be intimate, we focus all of our attention on you.  It is very distracting and a major turn off to know that we are not getting the same in return. Give your partner a half hour, an hour before you resume your business. It is not a whole lot to ask.
