Avatar Weekly with Lucius Baxton
January 20th, 2010
Avatar Weekly reporter Liane Boomhauer recently sat down to talk with Lucius Baxton of Eternus Male clothing.
Good afternoon, Lucius! Thanks for taking the time out to meet with me.
1. Tell us a little bit about Lucius Baxton.
Well, I don’t think there is much to tell about me, I’m mostly a simple guy trying to enjoy my SL having lots of fun and making things. I really like to help people but some times you get played by those you tried to help, and that pisses me off. I consider myself as creative so I love to create things, all sorts of things, between huge buildings, furnitures, accesories, clothes and even weapons, but what I like to do best is make peoples’ lives a bit better, so I love to entertain, that’s why I’m a SL DJ too.
2. What’s your main drive when designing clothing?
When I design clothes I think of something I would wear in RL, something that looks really cool and of course fun and sexy… I gotta have sexy.
3. Is your clothing like anything we have seen out on the grid? How is yours different?
Hard to say, I mean there’s sooooo many incredible designers in SL it’s hard to say my clothes are unique, but I would like to say there’s only one Lucius Baxton and every piece has my own touch and that makes it unique.
4. We know you make men’s clothing, but what else do you make?
Accessories are my favorites, necklaces and belts, prim work is what I think to be my strong area, something you can appreciate on my weapons, it’s very important to me how things look on your avie besides how they work, so I like details and work with good tools, to be able to make the best I can.
5. Let’s focus more on your men’s clothing for a bit. Usually how long does it take one outfit?
I guess it depends on the inspiration and organization, sometimes I get an idea and I go for it, finishing it in almost no time, because in my head it’s already done, I know exactly what and where I want the details to be. On the other hand sometimes my mind wanders and it’s kind of trial and error and that can take forever.
6. Do you base your men’s line on your RL?
Ideally, most of the clothes I make are things I normally wear and some of them are things I would love to wear but can’t for different reasons, so yes you can say I base my designs on RL.

7. Do you have a favorite outfit out right now?
Wow!! Tough question, they are all my favorites, I mean they all have my effort and concentration and they were made with love but I love my Assassin Necklace, I guess it’s kind of a lucky charm for me.
8. What would you describe your men’s line as, style-wise?
I would say urban. Everyday kind of clothes.
9. Will you be/have you been venturing off into more than just clothing (ie skins, shapes, hair)? And if so, what will it be?
Oh yes, in the future I can only hope to be able to make all that, especially skins, I love a good skin.
10. Can we expect to see anything fun in the next couple of weeks?
You’ll have to pray to the creativity gods for them to bless me, but yes, I always try to not let too much time go between new releases.
11. Lastly, tell me something funny or embarrassing that has happened here on SL.
LOL – That would take me weeks, happens to me all the time, I remember a few times that I made T-shirts with something written on them, and have some good willing client IM me saying, “Loved the t-shirt but it’s spelled wrong,” and have to put the entire line offline to fix it, upload, repack it, and put it again online…… that is embarrassing!!

Interview with Oriana Kuhr
December 17th, 2009Recently Avatar Weekly staff writer Liane Boomhauer sat down with Dilly Dolls creator Oriana Kuhr. This is what she had to say.
Hey there Oriana! How are you this evening?
1. What brought Oriana to the wonderful world of Second Life?
I used to be an AOL chat whore, and was never into anything RP or RP related. A friend of mine on AOL told me, back in 2004, that there was this neat new game called Second Life, and I had to try it. He never told me much more than that. So I looked it up, and signed up for the free 7 day trial. About 2 days later, he cancelled his own account, and left me to fend for myself. After the week, I was bored with it, so I let my account expire. The next year, I was bored, so I thought I would try it again, and I have been here ever since!
2. Did you like the initial Oriana? (ie skin, shape, hair etc)
My first “look”…I was ok with at first, but I was “born” in a time when there was no such thing as prim hair, no flexi, no sculpty, very few skin creators. So I did the best that I could with the LL default makeups and such. I would not want to go back to that though, cause it’s just scary compared to now lol.
3. Do you base your avi to RL?
Absolutely not. To me, SL is an escape, and is the perfect avenue for me to be something completely different from the norm. In SL, i can be a dragon if I am feeling bored, or a windup doll when I am feeling gloomy. In RL, i can just plot down on the couch and watch tv. I don’t want to be THAT person in SL!
4. Where did the name Dilly Dolls come from?
Originally, the store name was Bondage Angel. Once I started learning how to make clothing, I did not think that the name really fit my new style. I had no idea what to call the new store, but I constantly referred to my lazyness as dilly dallying around. Then the fact that I started making doll items, it just seemed to click. I am a lazy clothing designer…aka, Dilly Dolls.
5. How long have you been designing clothing?
Well, a little bit of background on me here. Back in 2006 I was a dancer/manager at a goth club. And like always, I got bored, so I decided to try my hand at building. I started with chairs and other random useless stuff. I started noticing that people coming around the club were somewhat into bondage, so i started working on bondage display furniture (which later inspired the doll thing), and it sold ok, so I kept going. In 2007, i closed the shop and was content being a Tringo host lol. In early January 2008, my best friend in SL came to me and said “lets make skins!” So we did, poorly I might add. As the year went by, we started tinkering with clothing, and I made the official switch from skins to clothing around October of 2008. I changed up my format around January, and again just recently. I like change lol
6. What do you find easiest to make? (ie clothing, skins, shoes etc)
I hate making skins, even though its where I started. Shoes are fun, but time consuming for everything I like to add. Clothing takes a lot of creativity, and I get painter’s block a lot when I try. But overall, I would say that clothing is the easiest, and the most fun! If I ever stop doing the rest, I will still stick with clothing.
7. Do you have any special outfit/skin you will be wearing this holiday from your store? (Could you include a pic please?)
With my new style kickoff, my current favorite is my new Kawaii Koala. I was just messing around in ps one day, and I decided to try to make a kangaroo. But as it turns out, my kangaroo turned out to look more like a koala, and i thought it was uber cute, so Kawaii Koala was born!
![]()
8. What should we expect coming from Dilly Dolls soon?
I will be trying to take the store a little bit more towards the dark side. In the past, I was not able to stick to one style, so I am trying to start limiting my range. I love everything creepy, so maybe I will try to splatter some blood on something lol
9. When you go shopping what do you tend to look for?
Uber cuteness! But I don’t really get to go out and shop that often. I am pretty glued to my workspace. But when I do, i look for hair and skins that I can’t make, and lots of poses and animations. I love supporting other creators by buying their things.
10. What do you like to do on your time off?
SLEEP! I never sleep but maybe 5 hours a day, because I am constantly in sl. On VERY rare occasions, I will socialize with my dolls or other friends around sl.
11. Do you have any funny/embarrasing moments you would like to share?
You know, I do not embarrass easily at all. Not at all. So that is a tough one. As far as funny, well I can’t think of anything right now since i am about to fall asleep lol. There are moments with friends, I am sure, where I have made a fool of myself. though I bet they would remember it better than I can.
12. Lastly, any good advice for any noobs when they go out shopping or looking for good deals?
Shop at my store! No, just kidding. I have a few things…
-Don’t settle. If you have what you want to look like in your head, there is a way to achieve it. Visit as many stores as you can, and collect landmarks before you drop a dime. You never know when you will find something you like better, two stores after you dropped 2k.
-WATCH YOUR INVENTORY! Don’t stock up on freebies, only collect what you think you can actually use. Overloaded inventory lags you down, and you will not be able to search through it all because it is a pain to do.
-Most importantly, if you want to become a creator, that is awesome! But do it on your own. Don’t get sucked into dealing with resell packs, free full perms, or stolen content. Content theft is the biggest thing in sl right now, and it is a huge threat hanging over the heads of content creators. Don’t contribute to it, and report it if you see it!
-Have fun! This is your SECOND life, so enjoy it! Be what you want to be, I can almost guarantee that if you can think of it, you will find it in sl. Ask around, and shop around!
Thanks Oriana!
Interview with Kamia Crystal
December 11th, 2009Recently Staff Writer Liane Boomhauer had a chance to sit down with Kamia Crystal of Twinklez. This is what she had to say.
Hi there Kamia! Glad we were able to set this interview up.
1. What brought you to Second Life?
I was brought by a friend to Second Life in December 2006.
2. Are you glad you stuck through and stayed?
Yes, I’ve had my share of SL drama, fun, ups and downs but in the end it’s all been worth it.
3. Tell us a little bit about Kamia Crystal.
Well Kamia is 6 years old, very quiet but very silly. You won’t catch her around many places – as she usually stays on the sim and is always trying to make something new. Normally she is found with Skylia Cortes (Owner of ForeverYoung) or her close friends.
4. Where are some of your favorite places to hang out, that you frequent alot?
Delicious (Our sim lol). So many things to do here and I love meeting the new people that come through here.
5. Was creating a main goal for you here in Second Life?
I’ve tried just about everything in Second Life – building, photography, managing, land sales, modeling – ultimately this is the only one that I have succeeded in thanks to the help of ForeverYoung Designer Skylia Cortes.
6. Where does your creativity come from?
Real Life outfits, things I would like to see kids wearing. Basically anything that comes to mind – I always have my close friends to share their ideas too!
7. Do you do any type of designing in RL?
Nope, none what so ever!!
8. Before designing children’s clothing, did you make anything else?
Photography on and off – and had made a few furniture items previously.
9. Where did you come up with the name Twinklez?
Google. LOL I was searching for a unique word and had come across something about a twinkling star – and then decided to mix it up a little bit and make it Twinklez.
10. What’s your favorite outfit for little girls this season?
I made this fall dress – that actually I made by mistake. It wasn’t exactly how I wanted it to turn out but it ended up being super cute!!!
![]()
11. Is it easy for you to come up with new ideas?
It’s hard in the kid world to come up with new ideas as there are so many kid designers and not many different things you can do with kids clothing as you are limited. Mostly you start to see other stores with the same items – so you really have to be the first to try to come out with something that stands above the rest.
12. Do you find it hard getting your name out there as a fashion designer?
To be honest, I never really thought about that. I really started making clothes that my kids on my adult avatar would like – as I mentioned earlier with the help of Skylia I started to get into it more. I really only do this for the enjoyment of it. As it stands today, it is becoming successful.
13. Do you feel kids designers get the short end of the stick when it comes to being appreciated?
Yes, I really do. I only think this because I think kid avatars as a whole get the short end of the stick – it is frowned upon by many for playing a child avatar so I do feel it takes a lot more work to prove to others that it still does take talent and the same business practices that adult designers have.
14. Lastly, Where do you see Twinklez going in next year?
Well, hopefully in a year I’m still designing. And if I am, I hope it’s all the same as now! I’m having a great time!!
Thank you for your time!
Interview with Teenamarie Bressig
December 7th, 2009Our Avatar Weekly Staff member Liane Boomhauer got the chance to sit down with Teenamarie Bressig and talk to her about her store and her future hopes.
Hey there Teenamarie! Thanks so much for saying you would do the interview.
What was initial thought when joining Second Life?
It was kinda goofy game. To be honest, I joined, played around the welcome center and then quit. Came back 2 weeks later & tried again. I met a wonderful person, Taryn London. She had a welcome center & showed me her club. Then, I was hooked. She will always be a memory as my first person to experience Second Life with. She was a true genuine friend & mentor.
What was the first thing you started making? (ie. clothing, skins, shoes etc)
Well originally I started building before making clothes. But, it was clothes I started with. Then, I thought wouldn’t it be great to get a complete outfit, with the shoes, for a great low price. That’s when I was inspired to teach myself how to make shoes, then it was hair, mens clothes, woman’s skins & shapes. My goal was to eventually make a store where men and women can come to get stylish reasonable clothes, and extras.
Was making clothing your main focus?
Yes, I was actually inspired by BadKats designer, as It was and still is my favorite store besides my own, now hehe.
Was it hard for you to stick to one thing?
Actually, yes. My mind was going nuts with ideas. When I finally was determined to make clothes, I was on a roll…LOL. So, I was making more than one outfit at times.
Why the name Me’LanGe, Inc?
I was mentored by an advertiser, a high professional in the field of advertising in Second Life. Decided to give my store a Name Brand, something original. So, speaking with the advertiser, a friend(for suggestions) I then decided on Me’LanGe as the re imaging name brand. It means Variety in French.
What is your fave outfit for the holiday season right now?
Has to be the Hottie Santa, hehe.
Provided by Teenamarie Bressig
Where do you see your business going in the near future?
Hopefully and my goal, hard work & team will prosper one day to be one of the best Stores in Second Life, the best team, one of the best modeling agencies, & a great inspiration for others.
I remember when I first met you, you did photography for me. Do you still do it?
Oh, yes I remember that day quite clear, what memories I have gained in SL, the friends I’ve made, the accomplishments I’ve done. Yes, I still do photography, even better now. Have one of the best studios in SL, The PhotoLife Studio. I also, take my own advertising pictures for the store.
Do you sell any of your merchandise on xstreet? If so, is it affecting your thoughts on whether to keep your items on xstreet?
Yes, my earlier items from TMB DEZIGNZ are there. It hasn’t been a real profit maker but its free advertising so anything helps. If it ends up costing me to be with XSTREET later & not free, I will decide not to pay, unless sales are profiting my advertising needs.
On your spare time what do you like doing on Second Life?
DJing mostly. I love the club scene, being kinda bad. LOL. And listening to music as I entertain the people around me and gain friendship.
And finally, how would your life be different without having come to Second Life?
Very boring I think, I am a real computer geek, love games. Also, I think I have accomplished a lot of the dreams in Second Life that I might have not or couldn’t do in Real Life. Its really priceless, Second Life.
Interview with HC
December 6th, 2009Our Avatar Weekly Staff Writer Liane Boomhauer was able to sit down and talk with the designer to .hc&co.We wanted to share with you some tidbits of what to expect with possible future store releases.
What was your first initial thought of Second Life?
I honestly never thought I’d stay this long. I’m not a video game girl and usually grow bored of this kind stuff quickly. My name is unoriginal (Heather being my Real Life first name also) and something I definitely thought would be temporary.
When you started Second Life, was it just a ‘let’s try this out’ or was it something you knew you would come back to day in and day out?
Let’s try this out. I was kinda into the Sims and was searching for something similar when I stumbled upon Second Life.
Do you base your avi to Real Life?
When I started almost 3 years ago I was the typical Glamazon fashionista. It was awful, LOL. Now I guess I am pretty similar to my real life self. Jeans and tees, messy hair and flat shoes. It’s all pretty close Real Life nowadays.
How did you come about the name ‘.hc&co.‘?
It was actually a joke with an old friend. I’m a HUGE girly girl. I love pink and sparkles and all of that, so the joke was that I needed a fancy ‘tiffany&co’ name when I had my own store. Anyone who’s remotely close to me knows me as HC. My Second Life bff’s main avatar back in the day was also named Heather so everyone called us ‘HB’ and ‘HC’. Even after she switched her main avi (to Fukmi) HC still stuck. It’s honestly odd to be called Heather anymore.
How long have you been designing clothing?
Clothing for only about 5 months. I started in the sl fashion world designing shoes and accessories with Fukmi Sideways. She did all the Photoshop work, and I was her ‘prim torturer’. It worked well for both of us, but I got bored and started messing with clothes. Then when Fukmi decided to leave Second Life I thought what the hell, I can do it all!
What do you find easiest to make? (ie pants, shorts, tops, skirts etc)
Honestly, the easiest things to make are the things I’m inspired to do. When someone asks for something specific, or when I have a vision of what I want it comes easy to me. I need the motivation.
Do you have any special outfit you will be wearing this holiday from your store?
My cutesy new Sweater dress in Holly is pretty festive.
Provided by HC
What’s upcoming in the new year for your store?
I REALLY REALLY want to work on a new skin line. I tried before and just wasn’t thrilled with my results, but feel like I have potential now, and am getting better with Photoshop every day. Cross your fingers!
Can you tell me some of your favorite places to shop and what you tend to shop for?
I love clothes, of course! There are so many places I like. BOOM, Zaara, League, Maitreya, This is a Fawn, Pig… LOTS. And I have an obsession with Truth hair, but who doesn’t? LOL
What do you like to do on your off time? Clubs, hanging out with friends, or just curling up on your fave couch?
Generally I just hang out with a few friends and my turtles or shop. I’m pretty boring
Have any torturous experiences here on Second Life?
Oh sure. LOL. I do not think about them
Lastly, any good advice for anyone new to the virtual world of Second Life when they go out shopping or looking for good deals?
Hm…. If someone passes you a folder of really great hair full perm, it actually is too good to be true. AND, there are so many really good smaller stores out there to make a cute avi for half the price of big named Second Life stores.
Interview with Catty Loon
December 5th, 2009Our Avatar Weekly Staff Writer Liane Boomhauer managed to get an interview with Catty Loon. She shares her experiences with hair in Second Life and some special future things with her 2010 hair line.

How long have you been a resident in SL?
It will be three years in Feb. 2010.
Did you ever think you would still be here for as long as you have?
I was here briefly for the beta, but my computer couldn’t handle it. I was a long time player of Ultima Online, so I am not too surprised that I would stick around for a long time, global communities have been a part of my life for so long I can’t imagine life without them anymore. As far as SL goes, I’ve made too many close friends that I condsider RL friends, and of course there is the creating, to even think of leaving!
When did the itch begin to start making hair?
Probably back in beta when I could play with the sliders! When I returned in 2007 I was happy with the slider hair for a few days til a new found friend took me to Gurlywood, Calla, Naughty, Deviant Kitties and ETD and other popular shops of 2007. I was so in awe of it all, I thought it must be the best thing to be able to make hair, I really didn’t think I would ever be able to do it. It wasn’t until, as a teacher at TUi, I created a class in how to edit hair to fit (I still haven’t taught that class…maybe someday), that I started thinking that maybe I could do it too. I did some research and gave it a try, a very audacious move for me. And Audacity was born.
Did you find it difficult to make sculpts?
I’ve dabbled in creating with sculpts and making them since they came out, and have recently begun putting more focus into learning to create them. I prefer hair without too many sculpts, maybe a few blended in to add to the effect or fill in where standard prims fall short.
What kind of hair do you think is good for the winter time?
I guess for winter I tend to think of something long and loose, probably cuz in RL my own hair is long, and all over the place with static electricity in the winter. My most recent hair, created for the Peace on Earth Hunt, called Dreamcatcher, would fit this. It even comes with a band to keep the hair from flying away too much, or to hide that hat hair look after coming in from out in the cold.
Since you make hair, do you go to other stores and buy theirs also?
Yes, tho not as much as I’d like to due to time. I love hair! I want it all! After that first hair shop visit back in 2007, I was always looking for more hair shops, checking them all out, I didn’t want to miss a thing. I rarely wear anything but what I make these days, but one can never have enough hair! I love to watch what the other designers, of both hair and other things, are doing. The hair designers of SL are a great bunch of people, I am still in awe of many of them, and I am proud to be amongst them.
What type of hair is easier for you to make? (i.e. long, short, curly, straight, male, female, etc)
Female hair is definitely the easiest, I think longer, and updos probably are the easiest for me. Male hair is challenging, but I’m working on more at the encouragement of my everything-Second Life partner (Dick Wiesel).
Do you see yourself making anything else other than hair? If so, what would you like to do?
I plan to branch out in the coming year, I’ve focused on hair since I started it a year or so ago, but have done various other things in the past. I also have created textures for creators and hope to do more of them, under the label Surface, which at the moment are either on XStreet or not set up for sale. I am working on learning and understanding sculpts better, for Surface as well as for WoE and Audacity things. I also hope to create some accessories to compliment Dick’s creations at WoE, and maybe even some clothing too.
What are some of the places you tend to frequent here on SL?
I don’t really get away from home much. I enjoy a good grid hunt now and then which gives me the opportunity to actually get out to see the other shops. I also haunt Plurk and my in world group, Hey Girlfriend! which helps keep me in touch with everyone and whats going on across the grid. I do try to get out shopping when my favorite places do some releases or when something new shows up on the blogs. My favorite times in SL are those spent with Dick either at home, working on our shop stuff, or occasional ventures out.
Do you find yourself making stuff even when you say you are taking a break?
Well, I’ve never taken an official “break”. My creating tends to go in spurts, if I am feeling it, I go into obsessive hair build mode until it runs out and this allows me to stock up on future releases. Same with texture making. The occasional hairstyle when I’ve seen a style on tv or somewhere can occur most anytime and either gets sketched for later or I have to jump in and do it immediately.
Lastly, where do you find your line of hair going in 2010?
I have spent the last months reworking my hair textures. I have just finished them, and the Peace on Earth hunt gift (Dreamcatcher, as mentioned earlier) is the first hair I have released made with them. I have a lot of work to do both coming up with new styles with the textures as well as reworking some of the old favorites with them. I also plan to implement more self made sculpts into new styles, as well as some more interesting textures to coordinate with the new ones to add more interest and variety in new and special releases.
*Dreams* Leopard Skin Prints
December 4th, 2009Photography Done By Winter Viper
Let me give you a bit of background about myself, Liane Boomhauer. When I first came to Second Life a couple years ago I was rather confused on what I wanted to be seen as. I was not sure if I wanted to be regular human, vampire, lycan, neko or furry. I became highly interested in being a neko and decided to stick with it. But let me tell you more about the skin and shape that I discovered.
I wanted to show you all the new Leopard Skin from *Dreams*. I was pretty excited with what I saw when I first put it on. I tried on all the different tones: Chocolate, Coffee, Cream, Fawn, Milk, Mocha, Snow and Toffee. My personal favorite was the Coffee tone, it suits me best I believe. I am a big fan of lips on all my skins and believe that it’s all about the makeup. If they have too much makeup I may not going to buy it. This had just the right amount of eye shadow and a little sheen on the lips. Gives you the option to wear the skin for everyday use or much more. The eyebrows look pretty realistic, and you can actually see the how the hair was combed on them. The shading is good also around the muscles and curves. The leopard spots look to be hand drawn in and are spaced well over the face and body. More realistic than most furry skins I have purchased in the past. All in all, I have no complaints about what Miss Sanura has created and give kudos to Sanura for her first line of skins. Two thumbs up!
Photography Done By Winter Viper
If you are looking for a good quality leopard skin for your neko needs, go visit *Dreams*. They come one skin to a pack for 300L or 8 skins for 800L.

Interview With Alexxa Despres
December 3rd, 2009Our writer Liane Boomhauer sat down with Alexxa Despres to ask her about the real estate in Second Life. It was also a good chance to define what was really going on with Alexxa and her business partner and if there was something more there.
Driftwood & Alexxa - Provided by Alexxa Despres
Hey there! Thanks for joining me for a small chat. So, tell us at Avatar Weekly a little bit about Alexxa Despres.
Personal or SL related?
SL related, I know some people would rather keep it separate.
I do, not separate but I am really private. I came into SL just to have a wander because Drift was in here and he said come have a look. Drift is my biz partner. I was a classic newb. Couldn’t walk. Rezzed boxes on myself and was forever ending up NUDE when I changed clothes. After about 6 weeks. f just getting my SL ‘legs’ so to speak, Drift and I decided to go into the land biz. And that is how it all began.
Wow! After 6 weeks? Was it difficult to get things started?
Drift had done alot of research and we both decided that we would begin with 1/4 of a sim, see how that went and go from there. There was a bit of a learning curve. We had a TIME with groups lol. Our very first piece of land was Southwater Caye, we had 1/4 of a sim broken into 1024 sqm plots and were pleased as punch.
And now, how much land do you own and rent out?
We have over 40 sims and the majority is residential. Though we do have some commercial and some public areas; a community sim that has surfing and some cool chill romantic areas
You spoke of Drift, did you know him prior to starting SL?
Yes we met through a mutual friend
Do you see it going any more than friendship?
We live 5000 miles apart, have our own lives and are the best of friends, sounds like a pretty good deal huh?
Now, I know from experience from being on different lands of friends and family but what makes for the most lag? You know, is it having 20 chickens and some other pets or is it tons of animated things being put down on the land?
Generally the more avatars along with lots of scripts makes more lag. Our lands are well-maintained and we run them pretty lag free. We don’t cram our islands with 30 microparcels. They are well designed, that’s Drift’s doing, and well thought out.
How do you like spending free time on SL? Any favorite hang out spots or shopping destinations?
Most of the times we are working. When we’re not, we like to explore new places, interesting and clever builds, and we do go see live music occasionally as well as have performers at Cougar Caye, the community sim. As for shopping, neither one of us are really big shoppers. LOL
What would you say is the hardest part of running a business?
We put a lot of time and work into our sims and sometimes that can be difficult. Sometimes we work up to 14 hours a day. But the best thing is there are 2 of us and we share the workload. That IS the hardest part tho at times…the TIME. I don’t think people realize how much time it takes. Having said that, you can NOT be successful if you don’t put in the time.
Ok, I have one final thing to ask….can you leave us with one of your funniest moments in SL?
Ok…funniest. We did an impromptu karaoke that was actually inspired by Rai. I was NOT going to sing at all but one of the residents and Drift cajoled me into it and it was a HOOT.
So you all sang on voice?
Yes. We did a song from Grease, “Tell Me More Tell Me More”. A trio. And then Drift and a male resident did Sonny and Cher which had us ALL rolling on the floor. We laugh a lot and have a lot of fun.

Interview With London Dailey
December 1st, 2009Our Avatar Weekly Staff Writer Liane Boomhauer got the lucky chance to interview London Dailey. We wanted to share the insight we learned from it with you. Please enjoy!
Hey there London! Thanks so much for saying you would do the interview.
What attracted you to SL in the first place?
I was watching G4 TV and they started talking about virtual worlds and SL was one of them. They were talking about how people were spending real money on virtual goods like clothes and land and I just thought that was absolutely insane so naturally I had to sign up to see this for myself.
When you first came to SL, was designing on your mind?
It was. That was the reason for making an account.
What was the first item you decided to start selling? (i.e. shoes, skins, shapes, clothing?)
Clothing was the first thing I sold but I believe that skins was the first thing I attempted.
Was it hard for you to stick to one thing?
Not really. For me the best part of doing something is having the idea and then finishing it. I’m not so fond of the middle part though. =)
Why the name House of London?
I picked it because I needed something that could encompass lots of different types of things and then I made sub brands under the House of London brand as a form of organization.
What is your favorite outfit for the holiday season right now?
While pink is my favorite color, I’ve been wearing alot of black, white and metals lately. I have some new things coming out for December and it includes the Radberry leggins, the HoL graffiti tank and the Rocket Girl jacket. I’m also paring those pieces with the Aura ankle boots and Ivanna clutch.

Where do you see your businesses going in the near future?
Well, I like where it is at the moment so I’d really just like to maintain it.
Where are some stores you like to shop at?
I really don’t do alot of shopping. I usually only go out for hair and that isn’t something I do too often but most of the hair that I wear comes from either LAMB or Maitreya. I think they have the best hair with the nicest textures.
Is the whole xstreet fiasco affecting your business?
I don’t think that they’ve put their plan into action yet. But even after they do I don’t expect that it will affect my business. I consider lindens earned from xstreet to be like petty cash. It’s what I use to tryout new products or buy things like trees or terrain textures so it doesn’t affect my bottom line. But I understand why some people might be upset with the change.
What other things do you like to do on SL other than design?
Honestly, I don’t do anything else in SL. If I’m online then its safe to say I’m working.
And finally, how would your life be different without having come to SL?
Well, I imagine if I’d never found it then I’d be stuck in a cubical somewhere and probably serverly depressed. I’m not meant to be kept in a cubical. I tried it for a year and I can’t do it. But more power to all the people who can.
