    Hi there everyone,

When Sarra came to me with this project so long ago I promised to help set her up and get her going. The site is booming and doing wonderfully now. Thus my time with AvatarWeekly is over. Thank you readers and staff for everything. You guys have also helped Sarra meet her dreams and I am grateful.

    FLW-12

First off, this took me days to piece together. I have other stuff I have gotten as well to try and mix and match for elf looks. Now nothing wrong with a cute sexy elf like in yesterdays post, but I have always been more particular to a very cutesy tinker looking elf. Maybe it is due to how I was raised and the several Santa stories that were introduced to me as a kid. Anyway I am going to address each item in this post because of the several days it took to find everything.

Now check out the eyes. Thank you to Puma Jie for showing me these. She is right, they are certainly eyegasmic with the level of details that have gone into them. These ones, the Blue Surf are a part of the Ocean pack from Poetic Color and cost 200L. Currently there are some freebie ones available that are meant for the holidays, and worth stopping down and snagging. I just personally am a big fan of blue eyes.

The next part I want to draw your attention to is the hair from Tiny Bird. Cute amazing textures. You can see the different hair strands which helps in the lifelike feel. Also it comes with an attachment holly piece that looks pretty real if you ask me. The hair is sold in a pack with three hair colors for 175L. I snagged the Haver Pack and am wearing the Brownie texture.

There are several places out there that provide quality ears. I am just a Scribble addict. They come in a few different shades to choose from and are nicely detailed with shading. These ones can be bought at the main store location for 95L.

The skin is a limited edition apart of the new Sweethearts line release at Cupcakes. I am in love with the Sweethearts line and further excited to see that this skin is only 100L and comes in several skin tones. The glossy lip details and eye makeup make me swoon. So if you are interested in having a really amazing skin at an affordable price with several tones to pick and choose from for only 100L, hurry to Cupcakes. This skin make up is only offered through the holidays.

The holidays do not seem completely to me without some form of food or holiday goodies. I found this gingerbread man for 40L at *Sanu. There is also a candy cane there for 30L that has an interactive menu of random sayings to put in chat. Best part is they are transferable and make a really good gift.

The sweater is from Fri.day’s and is known as the Henley Hoodie. It is currently 75L until December 14th. I personally like this hoodie because it comes with both options to have the hood up or down. The seams at the edges are well defined and come with a set off sculpties for the sleeves.

Now here is the one downer to this outfit. I hunted Dutch Touch to see if the overalls were sold separately from the rest of the set it came with but they are not. (On a side note, they do come with some really cute shirts for a country style). This is from the Siske BB for 325L.

To me an elf has to have something shiny or blinky about them. The belt from Catnip fits that for me because of its color changing lights, Christmas ornaments, candy canes and even mistletoe tail. The belt comes with adjustment settings to help to fit to your shape. You can find it at their main store along with other Christmas fun for 190L.

This outfit did not seem complete without some form of leggings. Corduroy currently has a fat pack of Holiday leggings out for 10L which includes six different kinds of designs and festive colors. The ones I am wearing are the peacock feathers! Leggings.

Now I don’t know if you remember me showing off a pair of boots a while back from (MB) and stating that they had a similar pair just for the holidays. Well I went back and got them. I could not help myself because of all the little sculpted stars, snowmen, gingerbread men, wreaths, and snowflakes attached. They are some of my favorite boots that I have found specially made for the holidays and come in at a decent price of 299L.

I know this post was a bit longer but with how much time and effort that went into hunting for the items to make this look, everything needed to be mentioned. More to come tomorrow.

    Fashionably Late Tuesday

    December 7th, 2009

FLT-12That is it! Time for some special holiday posts to help get in the spirit of the season. I decided I am dedicating the rest of this week with Fashionably late to making special Christmas looks. Thus, I DECLARE ITS ELF WEEK! That is right, time to get busy and start hunting for those holiday gifts and being as busy as Santa’s elves.

Now the first thing I am sure you are going to spot on my today’s elf look is the antlers. I saw them and really couldn’t help myself. The blinking lights and hanging ornaments made me squeal with delight.  I had to get it especially when I learned it was only 99L at *Epic*.  The store is great for mystical creatures.

The next thing I was looking for was the perfect elf outfit. Later this week, I will be piecing some stuff together from various shops but, I did want to point out that a lot of stores make an all in one. *Epic* made this one and it is called Santa’s Candy Jane Corset Dress. It comes in both green and red, festive stockings, and gloves. Now I am not usually one for full bright items but with some Christmas items I can sometimes let it slide. Mostly because a lot of the Christmas items this time of year are fun to have that extra little glow. Plus as an elf, it semi adds to that fun mystic character.
This outfit is 299L at *Epic*’s main store.

I wanted cute curly hair to go along with the look. =Tekuteku= just came out with some new releases for both men’s and women’s hair and the Spica style happens to be among them. I am rather fond of the fun curly kinks and I can for see this hair going marvelously with winter dresses as well. The version I am wearing is the black Spica style  and is 150L.

The last thing to help make this elf outfit was the shoes from Maitreya. I wanted to incorporate a little more red in the Chichi shoes but if it isn’t for you, the black shoes in the ChiChi shoe style also give a nice feel. The shoes are 450L, so a tad on the expensive side. I like them particularly because they give a small cute doll look to the elf and match well with the stockings.  Plus the designer captured that nice gloss texture with the heel.

    FLM-12

What happens when you go to a shoe fair and fall in love with a pair of boots and decide to check out the main store? A FASHION SPREE FRENZY! It might as well have been Black Friday with how I was running through out the place. I found these boots, Loosefit Boots Black, at J’s Mainstore for 250L. I absolutely love the texture job and sculptie prims. They come with the options to have just a black boot or a buckle with the boot. I can easily say these boots will have multiple uses and in fact I am already plotting their future in some posts.

I kept hearing about !lamb and decided to check them out. They advertise their store as having funky and stylish hair. They live up to what they advertise and are a fun hair store to explore. They have several styles that are very snapshot friendly and for sure going to add character to the snapshot. I grabbed just a more modern style, the Babys on Fire – Chocolate Bars Pack, for 300L. You get four different hair styles in the pack which contains from light to dark color textures.

Lately I have been a big coat mood. This time of year I can’t help myself. So I decide to swing over to Musashi-Do and see what was out for coats. Much to my happiness I discovered the December Warmth line. These coats can be found in five different colors and come with a black turtleneck shirt to wear underneath. One thing I was really pleased to see was two different coat bottom options, one is flat and one plumps out. Personally I prefer the plump version but it is nice to have both options. Also the sculpt belt and lapel are amazingly done. The shadow texture beneath the lapel made me smile with glee because it added to the coats realism. This coat and turtleneck are sold together for 449L but if you gotta have them all, you can for 1799L.

Now because it is that time of year where some of us start to ponder if we are going to see a white Christmas or not, I went hunting for a snowball. Actually initially I went to hunt for a purse and came across the snowball and was in love. You can even throw the snowball! You zoom into mouse look and click. Authentic Sound of a hit plays as you the frozen cold ball collides with your target and sticks to them! You can find this for 250L at Scribbles. Which on a side not is probably one of my new favorite random stores. Not only can you throw snowballs but you can throw bunnies, sit on reindeer, or get stockings to stuff with gifts for friends. For the winter holidays it is really worth a stop by.

    Dear Rai,

I have been contemplating selling my Second Life account for the past few weeks. I have lost interest with this virtual world. I do not know if it is because of how crazy my real life is or what it is that is adding to this instance. I have alot of land and money I could make by selling my avatar off. But my friends are absolutely upset with the thought of me leaving and most of all ditching the account. What do you suggest I do so that I don’t dissatisfy myself or them?

    Dissatisfied

    Dear Dissatisfied,

I can understand the pull of real life at times. In fact my friends in Second Life throughout the past three years have witnessed me taking a leave of absence for several months. I personally hate the idea of selling an account. I at one point took a leave for seven months, with some logins here and there. But I would have been really upset with myself seven months later if I had sold that part. Remember you have to pay to get back what you have in your inventory should you ever decide to come back. If you are really okay with that then I would suggest selling.  As far your friends go, maybe you should listen to them and consider what they have to say. Tell them you are going to take a leave of absence and do. Sell the land if you can’t afford to keep it for the reasons you have it. Get contact info from all your buds so you can still stay in touch if you so desire then write down in a calendar or enter into your phone three months from now a reminder note. This reminder note should be to ask yourself if you are happy with not being in SL and if it’s really worth giving up.

    Dear Rai

I have this job I signed up for and am now regretting taking on. The people are great and I have made many friends, but my real life is starting to suffer. I am making people there really unhappy with me. And really I miss them too. How do you best suggest I go about quitting? I don’t mean quitting SL, I mean just my job.

    Job Quitter

    Dear Job Quitter,

I would snag your boss when they have a free moment and are not going in a hundred directions and explain straight up the toll that second life has recently taken in your life. They may try to work some hours with you and negotiate. But if there is really no negotiating it and you know that, you would be doing both you and your second life boss a favor in the long run by just stating you need to quit because of real life. Make sure to state it has nothing to do with them in general and that if you ever get a chance again to work for them you would love to.

    ~Rai

    Dear Rai

I have been getting so frustrated with my SL boyfriend. I spend all my time working and very little being social. I am starting to go insane. My SL boyfriend is even getting frustrated with me. He has threatened to break it off with me if I do not start paying attention to him. The thing is I can be social at moments, but it is all really on call. If someone shows up and needs help I have to go and help them. I love my SL boyfriends but he is ready to leave me because of my job. Which I actually really love my job. I mean should I really have to choose between the two?

    On Call

    Dear On Call,

First off, answer these questions. How long have you been dating your second life boyfriend? Is it over three months? Six? A Year? Has he acted this way about something else you have done in the past? If you answered yes to less than three months and/or to his acting up to a similar situation then I would really ask yourself how you define love. If he really loved you he would realize this is something that matters to you. You can try talking to him but if he gets frustrated at you and explodes over something you like to do, I would start asking yourself if this is something that you want to face with him over everything you like to do besides him.

    Fashionably Late Sunday

    FLSUN

It is very cold outside these days. That is unless you are lucky and happen to live in the Southern Hemisphere or along the equator. But for those that do not, I think BRRRRRRRRRR sums it up this time of year.

The one thing I am thankful about this time of year  is that I have long hair. It can help keep you warm if you are in a climate that won’t damage it for being too long. I have spent a long time in second life hunting for long hair, in particular life-like long hair. I finally found it at *Boon and it is called the JPN670 hair. I picked it up in the brown hair color for 200L. I have been really impressed with the details because sometimes a bit of white from texturing or prim changes can work its way into the hair textures. This hair does not have that much to my glee. With the silky texture and flexi additions, this long hair really comes across realistic.

Something else I spotted at *Boon were these headphones. Now the small ear plugs are great for certain things, but when it’s cold out the big giant headphones are awesome to have because they keep your ears warm. The ones I snagged are color changing for 350L, though they do offer ones with designs around 250L.

Another necessity that is needed this time of year is a nice warm coat. I found one at *Little Fish* that I fell in love with. This coat comes in a few different colors and all are plaid. The belt is wonderfully textured as is the rest of the coat. I really liked the winter coat attachment scluptie as well because it added to the life like feeling in the way coats fit. You can pick one of these up for 220L.

Now if you are in a setting where it’s just cold and there is no ice, high heeled boots are awesome. Otherwise you really are asking for your face to collide with the ground (unless you have just become that Hollywood pro at wearing heels). I visited the shoe fair and found these Long Boots Round for 480L from J’s. The big thing that stood out to me was not only the nice zipper texture job, but the nice shoe shine it had.  Another plus to this boot pack is that it comes with special prim feet that are meant for having pants on, making it well worth the Lindens.

    FLS

It is getting to be that really cold time of year, especially with all that snow that starts to fall. Today’s fashion post is dedicated to warmth.

The first place I started was with a nice warm sweater. I did a search through xstreet and discovered a store that I had to go check out. The store is called *Little Fish* and is well worth visiting. I know I will be keeping an eye on them for future stuff. While I was there, I fell in love with the Winter Gray Sweater that was 180L. It comes with three different sculptie attachments that fit perfectly with the sweater’s design. It is also offered in several different colors that are great for the winter season.

I have been dying to use these waist belts I got at Fri.day’s. I picked up the fatpack because I already know these will be worn with many different outfits. The fat pack is 420L and comes with over 50 belts (I lost count at 50, there are far more in there). I know that if you pick these up in their single packs for the sale price that is going on, you get three shades in the belt. Pretty good deal if you ask me, especially since if memory serves me correctly they were around 50L to 75L.

It has been at least a year or if not longer since I investigated the hair at Maitreya. I was rather excited with the find. I bought the Chloe – Nuts Pack which gives you fiver different hair colors along with a sculptie hat that has fifteen color choices. There is a similar style to this one as well, the only difference is the hair does not tuck back. This cozy warm hair/hat can be bought at Maitreya for 295L.

The last item I needed was boots. I wanted nice warm snow boots that looked that I wouldn’t slip and fall. I did another xstreet search and came across these “COSY” – foggy/night boots (yes that is how they are spelled) are for 225L. They come in a few different color option along with a red/green Christmas option.  These MB-CreationZ boots currently are at a Christmas Market along with several other quality shoe designs.

    Fashionably Late Friday

    December 3rd, 2009

FLFThis time of year there are several holiday parties that require sometime a little bit of formal wear. I went on a hunt to try and find a wonderful holiday gown just because of these winter events.

The first stop I made was at the Laughing Academy which has gorgeously detailed Victorian gowns. The one I am wearing is called SwanSong Candace Aflame and is 350L. The dress has gorgeous sculptie ruffles along with a sculptie sash that makes the dress just dazzling. I was rather impressed with how the skirt attachments were down by having three various attachments instead of just one. I prefer to usually have my long gowns set up that way because they can handle ao movements a little better then just the one.

I wanted to add something special to this dress that was not something I had seen before. I came across a gorgeous Heart Key Locket from Lucas Lameth. It is gorgeously done and has a really neat feature . The top part of the key opens to reveal a picture. You can insert your own picture into the locket to give it a very special meaning. It is transferable, thus is something that can be customized and given as a gift to a special someone. The locket is 299L and is in my opinion well worth it.

When it comes to the hair, I really liked the short hairy styles with this dress. I tried various styles on today and kept coming to this conclusion. The hair style I liked the most was from Fri.day called Deena in passionate red. Other hair colors would go marvelous with this dress to, but a darker red will for sure make you come across as a Miss Scarlet. It is currently 75L until Dec. 14th.

Now I wanted to include one other thing to emphasize how this was an amazing holiday dress and was the gift that is in my hand. It is from Glitterati for 0L. It actually comes with a cute pose where you hold the gift in front of your face, but I didn’t want to hide the necklace. There are also poses included where you are sitting on top of a pile of gifts or covering your body up with a present(s). Really cute, and worth the visit to snag.
